Locums – Potsdam, New York, NP/PA GI Job

Clinical Role
RecruitWell is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time locums Gastroenterology opportunity in Potsdam, New York. This role focuses on adult GI and Internal Medicine patients and requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and patient education skills.

Assignment Details

• Start: January 4, 2027

• Duration: 26 weeks

• Full-time

• Monday–Friday

• Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage adult patients with acute and chronic GI and medical conditions

• Approximately 14–18 patients per day

• Order appropriate diagnostic testing and specialty consultations

• Refer complex or high-priority cases to collaborating physicians

• Prescribe and monitor medications as appropriate

• Provide preventive care and condition-specific patient and family education

• Provide appropriate medical and emergency interventions

• Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, referrals, procedures, and outcomes

• Ensure documentation supports appropriate coding, billing, and quality standards

• Participate in clinical review and quality improvement processes

Patient Population

• Adult patients

• Acutely ill patients with a broad range of medical conditions

Support & Technology

• NP support

• LPN support

• Anesthesia support for procedures

• EMR: Epic

• Automated medication dispensing: Pyxis

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

• Board Certification required

• Active New York State license required

• Minimum 3 years of recent experience required

• AHA BLS required

• Residents and fellows are not accepted
